Happy Thursday!

Go over and subscribe to my new page at http://www.nettafied.com

It is 6:53am on Thursday morning and it is now 54 degrees, when yesterday was 72. Too much of this kind of weather can drive anyone crazy. I love cold weather because it gives me the okay to throw some thick leggings on with boots under a pea coat and scarf and still look somewhat fashionable. I just wish our cold weather were more consistent.

This week I am thankful for the warm weather we have had lately. The weather in NC is far from normal. It can go from 40 degrees one day to 72 the next. This week we actually had two beautiful, sunny days! Yes, I am very excited about that lol. I am over winter at the moment and can not wait for the first day of spring. I have it marked on my calendar, although around these parts it doesn’t exactly mean that the weather will be warm, still I am hoping for the best.

This spring, I am looking forward to quite a few things:

  1. Gardening, I am obsessed with trying to not only master planting, but growing my own vegetables. So there will be a lot of YouTube watching in the near future.
  2. My usual park runs! I love my treadmill, but I really don’t use it the way I should. The reason, I need fresh air! My treadmill is crammed in a corner of a guest bedroom with the view of a wall. It only does the job for so long. The park in the spring is great, it’s not too hot, the air is crisp in the morning and it provides me with scenery that isn’t a wall. There are two seasons I love the most and that is fall and spring. You get the best weather in both. Not too hot or cold, the leaves changing colors in the fall are beautiful, the sun shining just right in the spring is the perfect warmth. Yup I am reminiscing. It is definitely time for spring.
  3. Last but not least, my baby pie’s birthday! On May 4 my son will be 1 years old. It is so hard to believe my little 7 pound baby will be turning one in two months. He is growing so fast, I was warned to be ready for the day I turned around and he is a toddler. My heart sank just a little yesterday as I was leaving a store and the sales clerk asked how old Ty is. I accidentally said 9 months and had to correct myself. “10 months, he is 10 months today.” My little baby pie is growing up and somehow I wish I could slow him down just a little.

What are you all thankful for this Thursday? Leave it below if you would like to share.

Have a happy Thursday and Stay Inspired!

Hey Hey Lovely People!

Today I am thankful for the little man in my life. I know I have written about him before, but he is growing now everyday and I am learning new and exciting things about his little personality. He is my greatest blessing and no one can tell me different. I am nowhere near perfect but when I look at him I feel like everything I could have done perfectly came out in him. I pray everyday that God give him understanding, a kind heart and the ability to know that as long as he does things from his heart he can never go wrong.

Without getting too sentimental. That handsome little guy above is the very definition of true love to me. Life changed when he entered into  our lives but it changed for the better. I love you my little man, and one day if you ever decide to read these little rants I throw up weekly I want you to know that my love for you is forever baby pie.

Teach Me Tuesday

Hey Hey!

It’s TMT time! I have tried to find a way to soothe my sons teething issue. He gets so cranky and upset and I can’t stand to see him upset. There is a portion of the day where it is non stop screaming for what seems like forever. I went through so many teething rings and they didn’t seem to help except one. He nibbles on it for just a little while and then goes right back to the hulk lol (just kidding) I read about this teething toy called Sofie the giraffe teether, and if you ask me Sofie is a little overpriced. Although, she has great reviews and may very well work, I couldn’t find it in heart (or pockets) to buy her.  Click here to see the infamous Sofie.). I received the greatest and simplest advice from my mom. She told me to just rub his gums. Surprisingly this worked! You would think with all the products out there, I mean I almost purchased a necklace (starting price $20) specially made for my son to nibble on.  I had all of these teething toys that seem to work some of the time, and all I needed to do was rub his gums. This is how I have soothed baby pie. I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before, as he is constantly gnawing on my fingers when he gets a chance. It is a weird but efficient method considering I don’t have to buy anything.

I also tried another idea I found on Pinterest. Rubbing his gums work, but when I need my hand back the below Pinterest idea proved to be very convenient.  My son usually won’t take his pacifier, but this works like a charm now. I guess irritated gums trump preference in this case 🙂 Freeze the pacifier with he water in it and give to baby. Check it out below.

Any of you seasoned mom’s have other suggestions for me?  I would love to hear them. Thanks for stopping by and visiting my TMT this month.  Stay Inspired!

Teach Me Tuesday

Hey Hey!

It’s about that time for the monthly TMT! I hope you all had a great weekend! This month I have learned a lot when it comes to baby pie. I have learned that he has a fascination with a cartoon called Super Why?!, he seems to be a little scared of Big Bird from Sesame Street, but loves Sesame Street, he wants to hold his own bottle and he really hates his car seat.

This hatred with the car seat has become a little of a concern because when husby and I go out to a restaurant this is where baby pie has to sit while we eat. He loves to get out of the car seat and look around. It basically comes down to husby and I having to hold him and eat, so that he does not get too vocal in the nice quiet restaurant. As you already know, baby pie is far too little to sit in the toddler chairs, so we end up leaving him in the car seat. This does not give him the best view of things and I have learned when he can see what’s going on he is one calm baby. I was recently out to eat with a friend and they did not have one of the slings to put baby pies car seat in. My friend suggested taking the high chair they have and turning it upside down to use as seating for the car seat.  Before this day I had never seen this done before. Usually I just put him in the seat next to me if the establishment does not have the slings, but the chairs in this particular restaurant were more like stools. If you are like me and need a visual I have posted pics below. Take a look.

Now, I have heard so many opinions about using this method. All very valid and understandable. There are people who say it is completely dangerous and should not be used at all and others that say it’s no big deal as long as you are near them and watching them. To be completely honest I am completely fine with using the method. I put my baby pie by the wall where there weren’t so many people walking by and I kept my eye on him.  Would I use this method over just sitting him in the next to me if I had the option? No, I would have used my seat, but that’s just because I like to be as close to him as possible.

I thought I would share the idea being as though it was my first time seeing this method used. I can see why it’s not used as often, but in a pinch it’s proven to be quite effective. Provided you keep a close eye on your little one. What have you learned lately? It Does not have to be baby related. I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday. Stay Inspired!
